According to Ayurveda, this condition is mainly related to aggravation of Vata dosha, especially Apana Vata, which controls bowel movements.
Here’s how the problem develops: 1. Constipation (Vibandha) Dry, hard stool forms due to improper diet (low fiber, dehydration), irregular eating habits, stress, or suppression of natural urges. This increases Vata. 2. Excessive Straining (Ati Pravahana) When stool does not pass easily, a person strains. This creates pressure in the rectal veins and tissues. • Swollen veins → Arsha (Piles / Hemorrhoids) • Tear inthe lining → Parikartika ( fissure) Both cause pain, burning, and bleeding. 4. Pain Cycle Pain leads to fear of passing stool → more constipation → worsening swelling.
Ayurveda focuses on treating the root cause (constipation and Vata imbalance): • Mridu virechana (gentle bowel regulation) to soften stool • Sitz bath with herbal decoctions for pain and healing • Local medicated oils/ointments to reduce inflammation • Kshar Sutra therapy (in indicated cases) for long-term cure of piles/fistula • Diet correction: fiber, warm water, ghee, fruits, avoiding spicy/junk food.
